There are poems that catch your breath and hymns that catch your heart. The heartfelt Naat “Khusravi Achi Lagi Na Sarwari Achi Lagi” does just that. When the voice rises in praise of the Beloved Prophet (peace be upon him), the soul can’t help but lean forward.
“Khusravi Achi Lagi Na Sarwari Achi Lagi” is a beautiful Urdu-language Naat. Its opening lines“Khusravi achi lagi na, sarwari achi lagi, ham faqiroon ko Madine ki galli achi lagi” translate to something like: “Royal (khusravi) did not please us, nor did worldly rulers (sarwari); we, the humble, found delight in the lane of Madina.”
The Naat draws a clear contrast: earthly power and glory fade, but the simple honour of devotion near the Prophet’s city holds deep meaning.
The version often attributed to this Naat is by Syed Fasihuddin Soharwardi.
His delivery respectful, sincere lets the words carry the emotion rather than flashy performance. There are other renditions, but this one remains widely appreciated.

مہر وماہ کی روشنی، مانا کہ اچھی ہے مگر سبز گنبد کی مجھے توروشنی اچھی لگی
